Two More Weeks!

If all goes well, there are two weekends of basketball left.  Area tournament is this coming weekend...winning one game of that puts us in the state tournament next weekend.  (Not winning in Area is not an option to be considered!)

I've been terribly reluctant to post much about this season.  Partly because if I give too many details, I pretty much blow the anonymity I've been trying to hold on to.  Partly because I'm terrified to jinx it!!

So without getting too specific, I will say that this is the best season my husband has ever had.  Maybe the best season his school has ever had, but since the school's been around a lot longer than we have, and I'm too lazy to look it up, I won't make any claims on that.

It's been fairly peaceful around our house this year....more so than most seasons in the past.  He's working just as hard as ever, but up to this point he's been a lot less stressed.

And the people who like to complain about the coach(ing)  haven't seemed to find much to complain about this year, once the season got started.

The only problem now?  When everything goes so well, the expectation becomes that everything will continue to go well.

Meaning some significant disappointment if  it doesn't.

But I'm not thinking that direction.

It makes my stomach hurt.

Two more weeks decides it all.

Pray for us!

Oh, the weather!

Oh, the WEATHER!
This month has been completely crazy.
This picture (although not great) is from about 4 weeks ago.  Notice the capri pants, short sleeves, and flip-flops.

Four days later:
THE BLIZZARD OF 2011
(Their words, not mine – I wouldn’t know, since I hibernated for the worst of it!)

Eight days after that, another major (all things being relative – it was major for here) snowstorm.
Truthfully, we probably would have considered it huge if it hadn’t been for the fact that it followed “the blizzard.”
Any other “normal” winter.
But this winter ain’t normal, people.  (Now that I think of it, neither was last summer, but I won’t get into that right now.)

Five days after the second snow, we’re out in flip flops again.  I’m not kidding.

And then this morning was like April – thunder and lightning to wake us up at 3:30 in the morning, and torrential downpours to drive through on the way to school.  But as soon as the storms passed, the temp dropped like a rock, and we’re all shivering tonight.

I can’t decide if we need the heat or the air conditioning on, and I’m pretty sure at least once in the last week we’ve had the air conditioner and the fireplace going at the same time.

It’s a good thing I love weather extremes…I’m happiest when they’re predicting something interesting, and I like it just as much if it’s giant thunderstorms or giant snowstorms.  Maybe I should have been a meteorologist.

Oh, wait, no….they actually have to get out and be IN the weather…I’d much prefer to watch it from the comfort of my living room.

I’ll leave you with one final picture.
This picture was taken two years ago, on the exact same date that this year we were watching the snow fall.

It's not my house, a fact I have given thanks for COUNTLESS times.
It's a whopping six houses down from mine.
Right in the middle of the afternoon, in FEBRUARY!
I should get my mother-in-law to tell that story sometime, since she was home alone with the kids at the time.
Six doors down.

Yep, the weather here is rarely boring!
In fact, I think flip-flop weather is back again on Saturday.

Who needs a whole year to have seasons....we cover them all in one month!
